Silky Rosegill

Volvariella bombycina  This is a rare fungus that likes dead elm trees and rotholes in elm trees. It will probably become rarer as the last of the big elms begin to disappear. This is rather unfortunate, as it is quite a spectacular fungus although it does have a very pungent smell similar to the fresh timber of elm.
