Hericium coralloides.  This fungus belongs to the Toothed fungi group and is Red Data book listed. It is probably one of the most beautiful fungi in Britain and mainly grows on dead and wounded wood of beech. However at Wimpole it does seem to like dead standing ash trees and was seen in 2001.
