A very common fungus at Wimpole found in certain fields. However there are other species of Agaricus, A. macrosporus is a very large spectacular mushroom. Both these are very good to eat but over picking could have an effect on the invertebrates and most wild mushrooms suffer from maggots very quickly, so always leave the older fruiting bodies for the wildlife.
