The return to the Wimpole Estate of the Shire horses in 2003 was thanks to a sponsorship agreement between the National Trust and the Saffron Walden Herts & Essex Building Society.

The horses are used to provide wagon rides between Home Farm and the Hall and are proving to be highly popular with the thousands of visitors to the Estate each year.
